The Art Department's Illustration program
is focused on communicative picture-making, rich with conceptual ideas, that strives for heightened emotional impact.

The field of illustration is on that is truly time-honored. Leading illustrators from the past 40 years come together to form the illustration faculty at TAD, along with instructors from the award-winning Illustration Academy such as, Sterling Hundley, Anita Kunz, C.F. Payne, and Mark English. These admired giants in the field of illustration not only educate students in the art of visual communication, but also the business skills necessary to become a successful independent artist. Illustration students develop skills that can be applied to a variety of fields of expertise, including print, editorial, advertising, institutional, commercial and commissioned arts.  Students who choose this industry focus are encouraged to develop their own personal point of view and to utilize both digital and traditional media outlets as means to express their unique perspective on the world around them.

All TAD classes include live demonstrations, thought provoking lectures, relevant presentations, instructor and peer feedback and critique, with a conscious effort made for content appropriate for artists of all skill levels and trades, and applicable to the freelance artist as well as the corporate visual communicator.

All TAD classes are streamed live and then available 24 hours a day to students On Demand, enabling a fully flexible schedule for viewing the classes and getting the direct and personal feedback required to be successful. Live classes are scheduled according to Central Standard Time (CST), adjusted for Daylight Savings Time (CDT) during the summer months.
