VIS201 | Foundations B | Mon | 2pm-5pmInstructorMarshall VandruffCOURSE DESCRIPTIONThis unique and in-depth class features informative presentations and live demonstrations by instructors Marshall Vandruff and George Pratt. This class will enable students to gain a better understanding of storytelling through images and sequential art. Students will be able to view the demonstrations, presentations and get feedback on their work both Live and On Demand, allowing for total schedule flexibility. Learning ObjectivesTo familiarize students with an understanding of storytelling through the use of visual narrative in storyboarding and sequential art. Along with a thorough study of story construction (plot, characterization, rhythm, pacing) students work with the formal aspects of composition, color, line, lighting, point of view and “camera.” Utilizing many examples of sequential and storyboarding art as support, the instructors drive home the importance of clear and concise storytelling techniques to ensure effective emotional impact in one’s visual narrative. Learning OutcomesDrawing from a sound knowledge of the history of visual narrative students will have the skills to effectively illustrate a story through the powerful use of sequential and storyboarding techniques. Course RequirementsStudents will be issued a syllabus that will list the goals, projected outcomes, grading system, and any other resources the instructor deems necessary. All enrolled students must have completed Foundations A. |
All TAD classes include live demonstrations, thought provoking lectures, relevant presentations, instructor and peer feedback and critique, with a conscious effort made for content appropriate for artists of all skill levels and trades, and applicable to the freelance artist as well as the corporate visual communicator.
All TAD classes are streamed live and then available 24 hours a day to students On Demand, enabling a fully flexible schedule for viewing the classes and getting the direct and personal feedback required to be successful. Live classes are scheduled according to Central Standard Time (CST), adjusted for Daylight Savings Time (CDT) during the summer months.
