COURSE DESCRIPTION

This unique and in-depth class features nude and costumed models utilizing high quality photography with exceptional lighting. An innovative approach is used, combining two methods which together are designed to give the students a full understanding of how to approach drawing the human figure from life and imagination. Students will be able to see demonstrations, presentations and get feedback on their work both Live and On Demand, allowing for total schedule flexibility.

Learning Objectives

We begin with an optical and painterly approach which stresses the silhouette of the form. Next is a constructive technique to teach the use anatomical knowledge in order to build the human figure with a sculptural approach. These techniques can then be translated into every aspect of drawing, design, and painting.

Learning Outcomes

During this class the student will become aware of the importance of viewing the entire figure as a unit, focusing on the overall shape. Students will learn to emphasize the character and gesture of the subject. Action and dynamic poses will be stressed.

Course Requirements

Students will be issued a syllabus that will list the goals, projected outcomes, grading system, and any other resources the instructor deems necessary. Prerequisites:  FIG101: Figure I + LNP101: Linear Perspective.

All TAD classes include live demonstrations, thought provoking lectures, relevant presentations, instructor and peer feedback and critique, with a conscious effort made for content appropriate for artists of all skill levels and trades, and applicable to the freelance artist as well as the corporate visual communicator.

All TAD classes are streamed live and then available 24 hours a day to students On Demand, enabling a fully flexible schedule for viewing the classes and getting the direct and personal feedback required to be successful. Live classes are scheduled according to Central Standard Time (CST), adjusted for Daylight Savings Time (CDT) during the summer months.
