COURSE DESCRIPTION

This unique and in-depth class features informative presentations and live demonstrations. Through this class, students will gain a better understanding of a variety of digital media with key focus on Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop. Additional tools like Alchemy, and Z-Brush will also be touched on. The core focus of this class is to make you a better digital painter with a full package of information geared to support students from beginner to advanced abilities. If you want to be a better digital painter, this is a class that will help get you there. Students will be able to view the demonstrations, presentations and get feedback on their work both Live and On Demand, allowing for total schedule flexibility.
Elements from this class are required foundations for all future artwork created by TAD students. Armed with this knowledge, students will be able to identify what is wrong with their own work, and will strengthen their ability to create cohesive and unified images with digital media. This essential class cultivates an artist's ability to create artwork in improved production times, enabling faster learning and creation from imagination, reference and life.

Learning Objectives

We begin with an optical and painterly approach which stresses the silhouette of the form. Next is a constructive technique to teach the use anatomical knowledge in order to build the human figure with a sculptural approach. These techniques can then be translated into every aspect of drawing, design, and painting.

Learning Outcomes

During this class the student will become aware of the importance of viewing the entire figure as a unit, focusing on the overall shape. Students will learn to emphasize the character and gesture of the subject. Action and dynamic poses will be stressed.

Course Requirements

Students will be issued a syllabus that will list the goals, projected outcomes, grading system, and any other resources the instructor deems necessary. All enrolled students must have completed Foundations A.

All TAD classes include live demonstrations, thought provoking lectures, relevant presentations, instructor and peer feedback and critique, with a conscious effort made for content appropriate for artists of all skill levels and trades, and applicable to the freelance artist as well as the corporate visual communicator.

All TAD classes are streamed live and then available 24 hours a day to students On Demand, enabling a fully flexible schedule for viewing the classes and getting the direct and personal feedback required to be successful. Live classes are scheduled according to Central Standard Time (CST), adjusted for Daylight Savings Time (CDT) during the summer months.
