COURSE DESCRIPTION

This in-depth class features lectures, presentations, demonstrations, and personal feedback from the instructor on the important subjects of composition and color theory. Students will gain an understanding of the history and development of composition and color use over time, and across cultures, and will utlilize practical abstraction as a foundation of visual communication.

Learning Objectives

Students focus on learning objectives related to the principles of design, spatial theory, tonal pattern, linear design, abstract symbolism, shape development, through understanding value, hue, and saturation theory as it relates to light, mood, narrative, and emotion.

Learning Outcomes

This essential class cultivates a student’s ability to create images from the ground up, while communicating ideas and emotional expression in an orderly and understandable way. Students learn to build emotional impact in their works from imagination, reference and life.

Course Requirements

Students will be issued a syllabus that will list the goals, projected outcomes, grading system, and any other resources the instructor deems necessary.

All TAD classes include live demonstrations, thought provoking lectures, relevant presentations, instructor and peer feedback and critique, with a conscious effort made for content appropriate for artists of all skill levels and trades, and applicable to the freelance artist as well as the corporate visual communicator.

All TAD classes are streamed live and then available 24 hours a day to students On Demand, enabling a fully flexible schedule for viewing the classes and getting the direct and personal feedback required to be successful. Live classes are scheduled according to Central Standard Time (CST), adjusted for Daylight Savings Time (CDT) during the summer months.
