Students will learn the very first steps the industry takes when developing intellectual properties.  Students will create visual design guide and art bible used to create the projects in the other Entertainment 2D classes this semester and outline the greenlight pitch process. Students will begin to create production concept art for new and licensed intellectual properties, while studying best practices and learning to work with industry production schedules and formats associated with the greenlight process.  Students will work as a team to create the art bible, pitch materials, and assets with cohesive unified vision.

Learning Objectives

Key objectives are focused on students gaining the knowledge and processes necessary to begin creating entertainment universes with mass market and niche appeal, while learning the approval processes used to see licensed and wholly owned intellectual property become funded and move into pre-production and production. In order to create as an independent developer, or work in the entertainment industry, students must learn the value and pitfalls of working in groups, and as part of a greater team. Key objectives are focused on students gaining a stronger understanding of how the industry handles production, and how the latest methods can be utilized for their own use in the development of globally appealing entertainment.

Learning Outcomes

The knowledge presented allows students to build the base and foundations and pitch materials for any entertainment intellectual property, whether it be for games, toys, film, comics, graphic novels, social games, mobile games, animation or other content platforms and channels.
