COURSE DESCRIPTION

This unique and in-depth class features nude and costumed models utilizing high quality photography with exceptional lighting. An innovative approach is used, combining two methods which together are designed to give the students a full understanding of how to approach drawing the human figure from life and imagination. Students will be able to see demonstrations, presentations and get feedback on their work both Live and On Demand, allowing for total schedule flexibility.

Learning Objectives

Identifying the silhouette and shapes, translating the information learned in Fig Drawing I and II into paint. Drawing from observation. Value control, Limited palettes. Focus will be placed on the use of oils as well as on the pose and effective lighting to establish mood.

Learning Outcomes

This teaches the student to view the entire figure as a unit, and to focus on the overall shape. Seeing in shape will assist the student in strengthening their understanding of composition. Through the use of various palettes, including limited, triadic, etc, students will explore the multifaceted use of expressive color and mood.

Course Requirements

Students will be issued a syllabus that will list the goals, projected outcomes, grading system, and any other resources the instructor deems necessary. All enrolled students must have completed both Foundations A and B.

All TAD classes include live demonstrations, thought provoking lectures, relevant presentations, instructor and peer feedback and critique, with a conscious effort made for content appropriate for artists of all skill levels and trades, and applicable to the freelance artist as well as the corporate visual communicator.

All TAD classes are streamed live and then available 24 hours a day to students On Demand, enabling a fully flexible schedule for viewing the classes and getting the direct and personal feedback required to be successful. Live classes are scheduled according to Central Standard Time (CST), adjusted for Daylight Savings Time (CDT) during the summer months.
